Tryout Registration - Phase 2 MDHL West MI Tryouts & WMV
The MDHL (Michigan Developmental Hockey League) is the top fall league in the state of Michigan for players playing MI HS Hockey. All players looking to advance to the next level be it college, juniors, or professional while playing for their school should look at the MDHL as the best first step in achieving their goals. The league is scouted every game by trusted coaches, scouts, and advisors who have a wealth of knowledge and connections at every level of the development ladder.
The MDHL is the state leader in player advancement for MI HS Hockey players with over 300 alumni playing at various levels including the NHL, AHL, ECHL, NCAA, ACHA, USHL, NAHL, NCDC, and Canadian Junior A.
League Structure
Teams play 10 League Games, all @ the Plymouth Cultural Center in Plymouth, MI
Teams are seeded 1-6 and placed in a single elimination playoff to determine an MDHL Champion (history below)
Periodically, league play will shutdown for a weekend and an all star team will be selected for a T1 AAA Tournament or Showcase. (more info below)
Tryouts
2 Tryouts create the 6 total teams that make up the MDHL
West MI Tryouts: Creates 1 team, made from players regional to West MI (Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Lakeshore, Kalamazoo, and surrounding areas)
MDHL Green
*Players not selected for MDHL Green have the ability to attend the East MI tryouts and make one of the other 5 MDHL teams.
East MI Tryouts: Creates the other 5 teams, made from players all over the state
MDHL Red, MDHL White, MDHL Blue, MDHL Black, and MDHL Orange
The 6 teams all play each other twice for a 10 game regular season, teams are then seeded 1st -6th, then a single elimination playoff determines the league champion

MDHL Tier 1 AAA Tournament Teams
Throughout the course of the fall, the MDHL will suspend league play for the weekend and select the top players to attend T1 AAA events. Traditionally there are 3 events over the course of the season. Selection to one of the events does not guarantee your selection for the next, you have to earn it.
There are MDHL T1 teams at 3 age levels: 18u, 16u, and 15u.

- Bauer Motown Classic (Detroit)
- CCM World Invite (Minnesota)
- MDHL Showcase (Plymouth) - An internal, invite only MDHL "Top 40" style event to showcase the league's top performers
